Lets take a minute and look at endorsement. Donald Chump has just endorsed another chump (Romney). This weekend George Soros "endorsed" Romney by saying he is "okay with either Romney or Obama because the are both the same." Now there's a coveted endorsement. Almost as much as Louis Farakahn's endorsement of Ron Paul. This is the best they can do? Remember, we are known by our supporters, but defined by our detractors. A lot of solid, true Conservatives do not support Willard, Newt, or Rue Paul.

Then there is Santorum. He has been endorsed by James Dobson's Focus on The Family and other Christian, family values, and American values groups. There is ONLY ONE choice, and that is Rick Santorum. And just today, Tea Party favorite Sharon Angle endorsed Santorum.

Why am I such a staunch Rick Santorum fan? Let's start with examining the reasons I am opposed to his opponents.

First there is that crazy quilt Ron Paul. While he does occasionally swerve into a good point about how to fix the economy and adherence to the Constitution, his foreign policy is extremely dangerous. Then there is his voice and the fact that he sounds like Mr. Haney doing an impression of Walter Brennan.

Next you have Willard Romney. He is little to late to the table of Conservatism for my tastes. I wonder if he can be trusted to remain a Conservative. His work at Bain Crapital really doesn't phase me at all though. He seems a little too wooden, a little too smug. In a way, he kind of gives off this smarmy, slimy, reptilian used car salesman vibe. I have no issue with his wealth whatsoever. And, while I would prefer someone who is a Christian, his Mormonism bothers me way less than Obama's moronism.

Then you have Newt. In some ways and in certain circumstances, I actually like, even admire his brash boldness. He is never one to back down from a fight and the way he Newtered John King the other night was a sight to behold. That being said, he is Ricochet Rabbit on steroids on some of the issues. His willingness to embrace the idea of man-made global warming and to sit down with Stretch Pelosi and make a TV commercial about it, is just one problem. His reference to Paul Ryan's budget plan as "right wing social engineering" is another problem. His biggest problem for me though is his willingness to all but give amnesty to illegals who have been breaking our immigration for 20+ years and calling it a "compassionate solution."

Then there is the ongoing Newt/Willard, Willard/Newt cat fight. Their constant hissing, clawing, and back arching at each other, is counter productive to the accomplishment of job one which is REPLACING BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. The election at this point is more about Newt and Willard and their verbal sparring match and dueling TV attack ads, than it is about proposing solutions to our nation's problems.

But standing not too far back, just out of the glare of the self aggrandizing spotlight, is the candidate who shines brightly the light of consistent, reliable, rock solid Conservatism, Rick Santorum. In EVERY debate, every speech, he addresses the issues at hand and proposes his solution to those issues. Those issues are the economy, border security, and jobs, not how many times Newt has been married or how many companies Bain Crapital gutted with Willard Romney at the helm.

We have a candidate who has his eyes on the ball, and is prepared to score the game winning touchdown if we will all support him. He is laser-beam focused on returning Barack Hussein Obama back to private life and the obscurity that he so richly deserves.

As Conservatives, let's take our focus off of the Willard/Newt smack down, and concentrate our efforts on vaulting Rick Santorum to the White House.

I was saddened today by the departure or Texas Governor Rick Perry from the GOP candidate field. Perry has been my second choice behind Rick Santorum since Perry entered the race. A few debate stumbles, and what some believe to be a late entry into the fray, are the main things that kept Perry towards the bottom of the pack.

I do hope that Governor Perry will sharpen his debate and campaign skills and take another run at it in 2016 or 2020. He is a man of class and integrity and we would do well to have him as our president. He gave his endorsement to Newt Gingrich in today's announcement.

I guess the only thing left to say is, welcome home Governor Perry. You fought hard and ran the race well. We are proud of you.

Serious question here. Everybody says Romney is the only one who can beat Obama. Just heard Levin earlier talking about a Gallup poll that shows if an election between Obama and Romney was held today, Obama wins 45%-44%. A narrow win, but still a win. Digging deeper into the results, of those voting for Obama, 74% were voting FOR him and not against Romney. Of those voting for Romney, something like 58% were voting AGAINST Obama and not for Romney. Still think he is inevitable? He is after all the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Obama the last time around.

Hating Tim Tebow

I grew up in Denver and am admittedly biased. I’m a Denver Broncos fanatic. In the Mile High City, the Broncos are more than just a football team; they’re an institution.

Everybody loves a comeback. Former Broncos quarterback John Elway — one of the greatest QBs in NFL history — had comebacks in his DNA. Since he retired in 1999 after back-to-back Super Bowl wins, Denver fans have been jonesing for that regular shot of adrenaline Elway provided week in, week out.

Enter Tim Tebow. In the category of, “Holy cow, can he actually do it?” no Broncos QB since Elway has delivered like Tebow has. He feels familiar. This is what Broncos fans expect. We don’t do steady. We prefer up and down, high and low until that improbable rocket launch to victory in the final seconds of the game.

Will Tebow end up an NFL great like John Elway? That remains to be seen. Opinions are all over the place. But what is certain is that Tim Tebow is more than just a sports phenomenon. He’s a cultural phenomenon.

For starters, Tebow’s very existence is somehow controversial. He’s a walking pro-life testimonial. He’s been pulling off comebacks since before he was born. Pam Tebow, Tim’s mother, courageously chose to carry baby Tim to term despite doctors’ recommendations that she abort him.

You may recall that before Tim went pro, the Christian group, Focus on the Family, commissioned an innocuous TV ad that ran during the 2010 Saints-Colts Super Bowl game. It briefly told the story of the Tebows’ pre-natal struggle. The word “abortion” was never even uttered, but a positive portrayal of childbearing was all it took.

And so began the left’s hate affair with Tim Tebow. Radical feminist groups, media-types and liberal pundits alike lost their collective noodle even before the ad ran.

Erin Mattson, vice president of The National Organization for Women (NOW), told ABC News that Tim’s story of survival was “really quite offensive. … This ad is hate masquerading as love!” she barked. Tim wasn’t dismembered alive and scraped in pieces from his mother’s womb, you see.
The New York-based Women’s Media Center launched a failed censorship petition drive to pull the ad, framing it as an “attack on choice.” Get it? Pam Tebow chose alright; she just happened to make the wrong “choice,” and dared to share about it publicly.

But as a Denver Bronco, Tim Tebow’s profile has grown exponentially. So too has the left’s hatred for him.

This is due in large part to his very open Christian faith. After each game, Tim begins by thanking God: “First and foremost, I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

And who hasn’t heard of “Tebowing,” wherein one drops to a knee in prayer?

Then there’s Tim’s favorite Bible verse, John 3:16, which he’s known to wear painted in black swaths under each eye. After the Broncos’ recent electrifying playoff win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime, John 3:16 was reportedly the most popular search term on the Internet.
Remarkably, during the game Tebow passed for precisely 316 yards and averaged 31.6 yards per completed pass. The television viewing audience for the last 15 minutes of the game was 31.6 percent. This only added to the mystique.

So big was the story, in fact, that major news outlets like CNN ran the text of John 3:16 in its entirety: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The attention that Tebow’s bold Christian faith has drawn to the Gospel message has secular “progressives” and other God-deniers tied in knots.

American Atheists, a New Jersey-based group that promotes religious cleansing from the public sphere, says that Tebow is “full of cr*p.”

“Tebow takes religion and injects it into the mix and divides the fan base,” complained David Silverman, the group’s president.

“[Religion] injects the divisive force into football,” he continued (because, absent religion, football is just a touchy-feely snuggle fest). “Why in the world are we talking about religion when we are talking about football?” he demanded.

Of course, Tim Tebow is merely doing what Jesus asks of his followers: “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32)

The problem is that secular “progressives” don’t want Christ acknowledged before anyone, period; and they endeavor to shut down or mock anybody who tries.

During the Broncos’ regular season loss to the Buffalo Bills, for instance, “progressive” troglodyte and pseudo-intellectual funnyman Bill Maher tweeted about the game, encapsulating the left’s visceral hatred for Tim Tebow in 140 characters or less: “Wow, Jesus just [expletive deleted] #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere in hell Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler ‘Hey, Buffalo’s killing them.’”

Jesus addressed the Bill Mahers of the world — past, present and future — on more than one occasion. In John 15:18-20, for instance, He reminds His followers: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”

Those who belong to the world do indeed hate Tim Tebow. He stands for much of what our postmodern popular culture despises: sexual purity within the bonds of natural marriage, the sanctity of human life, selflessness, personal charity, humility and much, much more.

I mean, Tim Tebow has never even been arrested for drug possession or sexual assault, for crying out loud. We simply can’t allow children this kind of role model.

So, does God care about who wins NFL football games? Probably not. Does he care about those who play, watch and love football? Unquestionably.

Win or lose, no matter what happens with the rest of the Denver Broncos football season, one thing is for sure: people will keep talking about Tim Tebow. And when people are talking about Tim Tebow, they can’t help but talk about the profound faith that drives him both on and off the field.

What does it mean to be unified?

So when you think about unity what comes to your mind? The dictionary defines unified as operating as a unit “a coordinated program”. Many people think of it as coming together at events or as more of a political statesmanship. I recently had a chance to see the word unity in a different light.

I heard my Pastors son explain that there is a formula for unity and that this formula is quite simple, it is serving. Serving God and serving people in general. This got me thinking.

Psalms 133:1 “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” God desires us to live in unity. We need to learn how to sync ourselves to others through serving them and ultimately serving God. So many of us live crazy chaotic lives filled with noise. Many people want to live life without serving, living and doing things alone and not in a unit. We need to not just do and handle our own stuff but help others in their times of need with their stuff.

When we go through life living our own way, doing what we want and what we think is best we are not allowing God to work in and through us which hinders our growth in all areas of life. Many of us get stuck here, doing life alone, staying in warm up mode and never going above that. God never intended for us to do life alone. We need to have our lives in alignment to His will and our hearts open to what God wants. Transformation happens when you are in alignment with God. In doing this we are becoming a part of something that is far better than what we could ever do and accomplish on our own. We need to let go and let God lead and guide us instead of taking over the steering wheel and driving life our self. This may not come easy or natural to us but with Him ALL things are made possible.

God has even made our bodies to live and work in unity. Our cells are the basic unit of structure. All parts of our body have to work together and if they are not then there will be dysfunctions and illness. The body is made up of several organ systems that all must work together as one unit. Each system has its very own job and goals to do, if one system starts failing all the other systems will start failing as well. I think this is a good example on working together and serving others. Life can be analyzed the same way and if we are always doing things our way and doing them alone, eventually this will lead to different systems failing whether they be physical or not, could be failed relationships, loss of a job, there are many things that can go wrong when we try to be the one in charge, living life alone and not seeking His will.

Let’s make what we do each day be for God and let us do it together. We need to all contribute to the team, we need to all play the music together, God has given us the play book and the sheet music, and it’s called the bible.

Redefining GPS

I have lived in this geographic area most of my life. I have lived and or worked in the D/FW are most of my adult life. I know my way around the area pretty well. Really don't have much need for a GPS (Global Positioning System) so I haven't bought one. In fact, people often ask me for directions.

I want to talk about another kind of GPS this morning though. A GPS we all need to plug in and tap into. That GPS is the God Power Source. You plug into the God Power Source through prayer and reading your Bible. The God Power Source will not only give direction for your life, but also strength for the journey. Living Tomorrow Today

We all do it probably more often then we realize. “Tomorrow I will clean that room, tomorrow I will make that phone call, tomorrow I will make more time to read my bible” Why do we so often put things off until tomorrow, or a week or 2 or maybe all together?

God has given each and every one of us 24 hours in a day. How we use them is up to us. But are the ways we use them pleasing to God? We need to make sure we are being good stewards of the time He has given us. Do we seek God each morning and ask him to lead and guide our day and ask him what he wants from us today? I personally need to grow stronger in this area, I don’t always start my day off putting Him first, and even when I do I usually have already planned my day a day or two ahead of time without seeking Him first. I have noticed that if I over sleep and just rush around in the morning that I am really too busy to completely give God my full attention. Sometimes putting off praying until after I am ready and the kids are safely at school. This is not how God wants us to start our days. If we can come before him and seek him first then we will find that our day will move more peacefully.

I think this could also apply to a new year. What are you wanting and believing to happen this year? Are they things that are pleasing to him, are they aligned with God’s will for your life? Or are we making plans a whole year ahead of time without really seeking the one who is in control? How we spend our time, how we choose to speak and think all determine the kind of day or month or year we will have. Those actions will set in motion either positive outcomes or negative outcomes. If we want a better day or year then we need to start now. Let’s believe for a year of increase in our jobs, education, relationships, finances, health and many other areas of life.

Let’s start learning to walk with God this year and if you already are then build upon that relationship and grow closer to Him this year. We all had to learn how to walk as babies, there were times when we would fall down but we all got back up and kept trying, and now most of us can walk without tripping over our own two feet but even when we do we keep going. God wants us to walk with Him; he wants a relationship with us. When we were little we used to like to hold our parents hands and at some point we decided to let go and walk on our own. Our walk with God should not be this way, He wants us to grab a hold of his hand and never let go. His desire is for us to become more and more dependent on Him in every step that we take. He wants us to take the first step and grab a hold and trust him as we keep walking forward. He wants us to hold on and come to Him both in the good and bad times. If we fall down or get off track He will always be there ready to pick us up and steer us back onto the right path. Once you take the first step allow him to be your guide and show you what steps to take next.

God has your whole life already mapped out; we just need to make sure that our maps are aligning with his map. We need to be saying “ Not my will, Lord but your’s) Lets make 2012 our best year yet.

2012: A year of increase

I am going to lose some of you right away when I say I am about to quote Joel Osteen here in a second. That's fine. You can have whatever opinion you want to have about Joel. The fact is, he IS a man of God who speaks the truth because he speaks the Bible and the Bible IS truth.

Anyway, with that out of the way, I get daily status updates on my phone from Joel, and yesterdays was particularly good in light of the message we received at church yesterday. I am going to tie both of them together this morning. I strongly encourage you to look up the scripture references for yourself.

Joel Osteen Ministries Status: The power to see change in your life can be found in the words you speak. You have the power to set the destiny for your life by what comes out of your mouth. (Proverbs 18:21, Matthew 12:34, James 3:1-12)

Yesterday was my church's 12th anniversary and the pastor, while looking back was also casting the vision for the year ahead. He shared how he believed the Lord showed him that 2012 was to be the year of increase. That increase can be positive or negative. Our health can increase, and so can our sickness. Our wealth can increase, and so can our poverty. It's up to us.

We determine which is the case by how we speak and how we live our lives. Do we live a life and speak words of faith, or of doubt? The Bible tells us in James that just like a tiny rudder directs the largest ship, our directs the course of our lives. You want your life to go in a different direction? Take control of the rudder.

Or, if a car analogy works better for you, think of the tongue as the steering wheel. Whichever direction you turn the wheel is the direction the car goes. Whichever direction you speak over or about your life, your family, your church, your job, your relationship, etc. is the direction it will go. Positive or negative. Good or bad. Faithful or doubtful.

My take away was, and I hope your will be as well, that I can have increase in all areas, facets, and aspects of my life, but that it is up to me to choose it by controlling my rudder. As my flesh decreases and Jesus increases in my life, He will increase all areas of my life. I am grabbing the rudder, or the steering wheel if you prefer, and turning the ship (my life) in a positive direction.

2012 will be the year of increase in my life. Increased health, increased wealth, increased favor, increase on the job, increased relationships, increase in areas of life that I haven't even considered yet but God has because that's just how He rolls.

Increase and elevation are very similar. Elevate your thinking, and your speaking, and most importantly begin to elevate Jesus, and watch your life begin to elevate and increase. I'm increasing in 2012. I'm going not just to the next level, but to the next several levels. What about you?

Eric Holder's Fast & Furious anyone? Holder still has his job and gets paid big bucks over this criminal activity. Let's not forget Harry Reid and his shady Nevada business deals either. Or Nazi Pelosi and her cronies including her husband.Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention Obama's ties to Tony Rezko and an at best questionable real estate deal.

The government does run crime, at it's highest levels. Don't fool yourself into thinking otherwise. And these government criminals get paid very well for it. Crime pays & the government runs it. How pathetic is that?

It may not be about picking someone with your own beliefs and principles to the Romney team, his misguided supporters, and other misguided souls who have this "anybody but Obama" mindset. I agree that Obama must go. No argument there. I refuse to compromise my beliefs, principles, and core values in order to get that done though. I truly believe that anyone who is less than a true Conservative, someone who is unwilling to call Obama out and take him to task, who is unwilling or unable to draw a stark contrast between himself and Obama, will lose the election.

Assessment:

Even though he technically came in second, this is a huge victory for Santorum who many had written off prior to yesterday. An 8 vote margin is close enough from a percentage standpoint to argue that they tied for first. Nice job for Santorum, the candidate endorsed and supported by this blog. It was Santorum's retail campaigning style, visiting all 99 counties and meeting people face to face, that helped him.

Rue Paul's numbers were instructive. I had no idea there were 26,219 deranged, delusional people in Iowa. I guess I know now. He has enough money to keep going forward. We will see how long he lasts.

Newt's numbers were fairly dismal compared to what he was expecting. His personal past weighed heavily in Iowa where Evangelicals carry a lot of weight and power. Newt may need to reassess his cash strapped campaign.

The saddest result can be found in Rick Perry's numbers. Rick Perry is a good man and would have made a good president. Not sure what to attribute his poor showing to other than his debate performance. Speaking for myself alone, I am not interested in voting for the most eloquent debater, but rather the person with the most Conservative heart and head. Fox is reporting that Perry is returning to Texas to reassess his campaign. Welcome home Governor.

Michelle Bachmann...a 5% showing in the state in which she was born. Really kind of speaks for itself. My prediction; stick a fork in her, she's done. campaign over.

Cowboys Fire Jerry Jones.

IRVING, TEXAS—In an attempt to cut the franchise's losses and "move forward in a positive direction," the Dallas Cowboys severed ties with controversial owner Jerry Jones Monday, ending their tumultuous 20-year relationship with the divisive figure.

According to sources within the Cowboys organization, the decision to release Jones was influenced by the lack of any playoff victories in more than 12 years, the owner's distracting sideline antics, and his selfish, "me first" attitude, which many said was having a cancerous effect on the clubhouse.

"We value Jerry's contributions to the Cowboys over the past two decades, but it has become painfully clear that we just don't share the same priorities," Cowboys public relations director Richard Dalrymple said. "This wasn't an easy choice to make, but we're confident it is a decision that can only make our team better."

"Losing to our NFC East rivals the Giants in our brand-new stadium was really the last straw," added Dalrymple, who said Jones "insisted" that the $1.2 billion facility would solve all of the team's problems. "The Cowboys need to focus on winning, and we can't do that with Jerry's incessant ego-boosting publicity stunts, or this opulent sports venue that's devoted more to himself than achieving postseason success."

Cowboys officials called Jones Sunday night to inform him he was being cut from the team, ordering the 66-year-old owner to clean out his luxury box and remove his personal belongings from the premises immediately. Jones, who was reportedly stunned to be removed from his ownership duties, issued a statement on his website thanking himself for all his hard work and years of service.

"Well, damn, looks like the 'Boys couldn't handle Double J anymore," the blog post read in part. "I'll never forget my time in the Big D, and how I single-handedly won three Super Bowls. Don't worry, Jerry Jones will land on his feet somewhere, and when he does, Dallas better watch out."

Jones' questionable conduct on and off the field almost certainly played a role in sealing the troubled owner's fate. Although some members of the Cowboys' management have reportedly contemplated Jones' termination for the past several years, sources said his recent association with known criminals as well as a perceived lack of character and poor leadership qualities provided ample reasons for his release.

Ultimately, team officials said that Jones had become an embarrassment to the storied franchise.

"Between the opportunistic condemnations of game plans, the uninformed evaluations of draftees, and the paranoid delusions that players and coordinators were scheming against him, it's no wonder the Cowboys have had enough," NFL Today commentator Boomer Esiason said. "Maybe his absence will finally give the team a chance to start living up to its full potential."

"Just watching the Cowboys practice without Jones leering at them, you can tell that morale has already greatly improved," Esiason continued. "They seem so loose and relaxed and their faces are just lighting up with smiles. This is the first time Tony Romo has had fun since he put on the Cowboys uniform."

Former Cowboys head coach and Fox Sports analyst Jimmy Johnson speculated that the team's real motivation for cutting Jones was that the aging owner, who turns 67 in October, is well past his prime and would have continued to cost the ball club too much money.

"His skills have really diminished the past few years, and he just can't make the moves that he used to," said Johnson, adding that the rest of the NFL was passing Jones by every day. "When you get older you start to slow down, and as you try to compensate, you wind up making poor decisions."

"He had to eat more than $9 million dollars of salary cap just to get rid of Terrell Owens," Johnson added. "In this economy? What was he thinking?"

Though his publicist would not say whether the former Cowboys owner was entertaining offers from any other teams, an anonymous NFL source told reporters that, immediately after Jones cleared waivers Tuesday, Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis offered him a record-setting three-year $120 million deal.

The decline of America's Team.

As many of you who know me know well, I am a huge NASCAR fan and really only pay attention to or even pretend to care about the NFL during NASCAR's off season. When I do, I usually try to follow the Dallas Cowboys since they are the local team and I grew up watching them and being a fan of theirs all through the 70's and 80's.

For those of you too young to remember, it was during these years, and even going into the 60's, that the Cowboys had their greatest success and had in my often less than humble opinion, the best coach to ever lead a team, Tom Landry. Landry became the head coach in 1960 and remained so for 29 seasons. During his almost 3 decades as the coach of the Dallas Cowboys he racked a string of 20 consecutive winning seasons (1966-1985). This is one of the longest winning streaks in all of professional sports, and is an NFL record that remains both unbroken and unchallenged.

On a personal level, Landry's success can be directly attributed to his way of life. He was an unabashed, unashamed Christian and family man. When asked once what his priorities were, he replied, "My faith in God comes first, above all else. My family comes a close second. After that, the rest is easy." Landry always exuded class, integrity, and excellence.

He didn't always have players with superstar talent. But he knew how to tap into the talents and the greatness that the players did have, and how to bring that out of them. And it showed. 250 career wins, 5 NFC Championships, 2 Super Bowl wins, the third most wins of all time for an NFL coach compiling an overall record of 250-178-6. These were truly the glory days for the Cowboys. This is when they became America's Team.

Things began to change in 1989 when the team was purchased by multimillionaire businessman Jerry Jones. Jones summarily fired Tom Landry as head coach and replaced with a old college football teammate. In true, classless Jerry Jones fashion, Tom Landry found out about his firing and replacement when he was asked about it by a sports reporter. Jimmy Johnson was the head coach during 2 more Super Bowl wins in the early 90's, with a team put together by Tom Landry. This continued to the 1995 Super Bowl, at which Barry Switzer was coach of the team. Again, he reaped the benefits of a team he inherited from Johnson who inherited it from Landry. After that, the wheels came off and America's Team became America's laughingstock.

It is Jones' lack of class and integrity that can be blamed for the decline of the Cowboys. Jones is a businessman. His only concerns are his bottom line and his notoriety. Since Jones' takeover of the team, there has been a revolving door at the head coaching position. Even the great Bill Parcels was hired for a stretch as Cowboys head coach. Parcels, as with Barry Switzer and Jimmy Johnson before him, got tired of Jones' interference and had no desire to be nothing more than Jerry Jones' "yes" man.

The problem with this is, unlike previous owners Clint Murchison and H. R. "Bum" Bright who were also businessmen, Jones thinks he is and can be coach of the team. Murchison and Bright hired football professionals to run the on the field aspects of the team. They didn't interfere. It worked well for the better part of a quarter of a century. The records prove it.

Jones' constant interference, his lack of understanding of how to run a team with dignity, class, and integrity, and ultimately his shabby treatment of a Godly man like Tom Landry are the reasons for the decline of the team once known as America's Team. Used to be, when people thought of the Dallas Cowboys, they pictured Tom Landry, or Roger Staubach, or Troy Aikman, or some other standout player. The way things are now, when someone think of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones wants you to picture him.

Sure Jones has a ton of money. Just look at that new monument he built to himself in Arlington. He spent a billion dollars on a first class stadium for a second class team. I'm not against the new stadium. It is without a doubt the premier stadium in all of the NFL. That money though I think would have been better spent doing everything necessary to return the Dallas Cowboys to being the premier team in the NFL. Texas Stadium was plenty good enough for a few more seasons. And, that sound you heard the day it was imploded, that was not the sound of the demolition explosives. It was Tom Landry turning over in his grave at the thought of the house he built being disrespected in such a way.

I firmly believe that as long as the Jones family owns and controls that team, they will never achieve or even be destined from greatness. They will never return to their former glory. You wanna assign blame for the decline of America's Team? Lay it at the feet of Jerry Jones. That's where it belongs.

When the story of the Jerry Jones legacy is written, it will be about how a man, singlehandedly, took a storied and respected NFL franchise from America's Team, to the butt of America's jokes. This just leaves us with one question, and that is exactly how do you fire the team owner?? If you figure that one out, get back to me.

There were a lot of them. I will list the ones I thought were most significant. Some were famous entertainers, sports figures, etc., and others served our country in the military or in the political arena.

January:

2. American Army officer Richard Winters died of Parkinson's disease at age 92. Winters was the basis for the book and miniseries Band of Brothers.

4. On January 4th we lost one of my favorites, singer/songwriter Gerry Rafferty. While with the group Stealers Wheel, Rafferty gave us the hit Stuck In The Middle With You. He had a solid solo career as well, recording songs such as Right Down The Line, his biggest hit Baker Street which is now heard as the theme for the syndicated Dave Ramsey Show, and my favorite song of his Days Gone Down. He was 63 and died of liver failure.

6. Most notable on this day were the deaths of San Jose Sharks hockey player Tom Cavanaugh, and Tyson Foods Chairman Donald J. Tyson. Tyson died at age 80 of cancer, and Cavanaugh died at age 28 of blunt force trauma.

8. This was a dark day in America and especially in Tucson Arizona. A deranged gunman opened fire on attendees of a political rally, killing 6 and wounding many more. Among those killed were Arizona District Court Chief Judge John Roll (63), and 9 year-old Christina Taylor Green. Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was critically wounded in the shooting.

9. Renowned Hollywood director Peter Yates died on January 9. Yates is probably best known for directing Steve McQueen in the hit Bullitt. He directed several other hits as well. He was 81.

10. On January 10, the actor who played Andrew the Angel of Death in the hit TV series Touched By An Angel received a real life visit from the character he played. John Dye did just that at the young age of 47 from a heart attack.

13. The most notable passing on January 13 was that of super-centenarian Mississippi Winn. She died at the age of 113 and had been Louisiana's oldest living person.

17. On the 17th, legendary songwriter and music producer Don Kirshner died of heart failure at age 76.

21. January 21 saw the passing of American soldier Barney Hajiro. He had been the oldest living medal of honor recipient until his death at age 94.

23. Two significant deaths vie for our attention on this day. Louise Raggio, the first female prosecutor in Dallas County died at age 91. World renowned fitness and nutrition expert Jack LaLanne died of pneumonia at the age of 96.

26. Professional wrestler Shawn McGrath committed suicide at age 34.

30. Five time Academy Award winning British film score composer John Barry died of a heart attack at age 77. Among Barry's compositions were the scores for the films From Russia With Love, Chaplin, and Out Of Africa.

31. Charles Kaman was an American aeronautical engineer, founder of Kaman Aircraft and of Ovation Guitar Company. He was 91 at the time of his death on January 31.

Also passing on this day was Eunice Sanborn. She was 114 and the world's oldest living person at the time of her death.

5. February 5th was a busy day death wise. American character actress Peggy Rea (Grace Under Fire, The Dukes of Hazzard, Step by Step, The Waltons) died of heart failure at 89.

Donald Peterman, 79, American cinematographer (Flashdance, Men in Black, Cocoon), complications from myelodysplastic syndrome.

John Paul Getty III, one-time kidnapping victim and grandson of J. Paul Getty, died at 54 after a long illness.

6. Gary Moore, guitarist and singer for the rock band Thin Lizzy died of a heart attack at 58.

11. Christian J. Lambertsen died of renal failure at age 93 on this day. Lambertsen was an American diving engineer and the inventor of the first SCUBA device.

28. The last day of the shortest month of the year brought us the passing of Hollywood legend Jane Russell. She died of a respiratory illness at the age of 89.

March

8. On this date, the body of Mike Starr, 44, bassist for the rock group Alice In Chains, was discovered. He died of a drug & alcohol overdose.

9. Well known Washington Post writer David S. Broder died of complications from diabetes. He was 81.

17. Country music legend Ferlin Husky (Wings of a Dove) left us at the age of 85. Cause of death was heart failure.

9. Randy Wood and Roger Nichols. Wood was a record producer and founder of Dot Records. Nichols was also a record producer and sound engineer who worked with Stealy Dan. He died of pancreatic cancer at age 66.

14. The world's third oldest man ever, Walter Breuning, died at the age of 114.

20. A man who I am sure President Obama thought highly of, Hubert Schlafly, the American engineer who co-invented the TelePrompter died at age 91.

27. On this day, Christian author and evangelist David Wikerson (The Cross & The Switchblade) died in a head-on car crash in East Texas. He was 79.

2. This is actually a death that can be celebrated, murderous terrorist thug, Al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden met his demise at the hands of the US Navy's SEAL Team 6. bin Laden was shot and was 54 at the time of his death.

3. 88 year-old actor Jackie Cooper, who played in Skippy, Our Gang, and Superman, just to name a few and also went on to direct M*A*S*H, died on this day.

5. Charles Choules was the last remaining combat veteran of WWI when died on this day at age 110.

7. PGA Tour golfer Seve Ballesteros lost his battle with brain cancer at age 54.

11. 160 people died when a massive tornado torn through Joplin Missouri.

The former Navy boxing champion lost his battle with cancer just one week after his 87th birthday.

10. Actor Alan Fudge died of lung and liver cancer at age 67. From laws banning happy hour in Utah and shark fin sales in Oregon to tougher voter identification requirements in at least four states, a wide range of new legislation is set to ring in the new year.

According to The National Conference of State Legislatures, which earlier this week issued its annual list of new laws, the legislation will cover education, drug and alcohol policy, criminal justice and human trafficking, among other areas.

In some cases, the laws could add to the cost of doing business. Other new rules will regulate what Americans eat and drink.

California, for example, will prohibit virtually any business transaction involving beer which contains caffeine as a separate ingredient. It's not the caffeine that's the problem, it's the alcohol.

New laws in Utah will make any daily drink specials illegal – essentially banning happy hour. And the sale, trade, or distribution of shark fins will be prohibited in Oregon and California.

California will also become the first state to require students to learn about the societal contributions of gays and lesbians. The state will also implement a new law requiring certain retailers and manufacturers to list on their websites what measures they take to ensure their operations are free from human trafficking. Plus another new law in the state will require individuals under 18 to present a prescription for any drug containing dextromethorphan, or DXM, an ingredient in many over-the-counter cough syrups that can be used as a recreational drug.

California is always such a mixed bag. Who cares about the societal contributions of gays and lesbians? As if they are any more or less important than those of anyone else. The next two though, the ones about human trafficking and DXM are perfectly fine.

In Illinois, people convicted of first-degree murder must be added to a new public database, similar to the sex offender registry, when they're released from prison or any other facility. The database would include names, addresses, workplaces, schools attended and photos for offenders for up to 10 years after release. This is a fantastic idea!! Let's do the same for all violent crime: rape, assault, vandalism, arson, etc.

Efforts to fight voter fraud were paramount for many legislators this year.

Four states -- Kansas, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Texas – will look to combat voter fraud by requiring voters to present photo identification before casting ballots. In New Hampshire, election day registrants who do not present photo ID will be required to send verification through the mail. Additionally, Tennessee will make election officials identify possible non-citizens who are registered to vote and order them to show proof of citizenship if they wish to remain registered voters. Hats off to all these states, especially Tennessee! Nice job!

The new voter identification laws, however, have been fiercely criticized by civil rights groups who claim the laws are an attempt to limit participation of minority voters. No, they are an attempt to keep illegals and other non-citizens or those who by criminal activity have lost their right to vote, from being able to do so.

Other laws for 2012 include:

Alabama

New restrictions govern who can testify as an expert witness in civil and criminal trials in a measure aiming to limit what critics call "junk science" theories of how or why a crime occurred.

Delaware

Civil unions or domestic partnerships for same-sex couples are legalized, giving them the same state rights and obligations of those who are married but clarifying that marriage is between a man and a woman. No law that cheapens the meaning of traditional marriage and family should ever see the light of day.

Tennessee

Penalties are increasing for raping a child, creating a minimum sentence of 25 years but allowing judges to increase the time when appropriate, up to 60 years for the worst cases. Great law. Would be better if it was a minimum of 50 years and up to life in the worst cases, but this is still good.

Georgia

Any agency administering public benefits must require each applicant to provide at least one "secure and verifiable document." Good first step.

North Carolina

More criminals convicted of misdemeanors will be housed in county jails rather than in state prisons to save money and reduce repeat offenses.

Illinois

Motorcyclists stopped at a red light may proceed through if it fails to change to green after a reasonable length of time. And get promptly flattened by the Hummer H2 coming through on green. How stupid can you be? And, who determines "a reasonable length of time"?

Political correctness is now apparently a given in our society, so I thought it would be fun to play a little game called illustrating absurdity by being absurd. The following things have not happened, yet, but given our society’s love of and fascination with political correctness, it’s not too far fetched to imagine. Enjoy this little bit of humor, but keep in the back of your minds, it could all happen sooner than we think. Objects in mirror are actually closer than they appear.

Santa is no longer acceptable. He offends the feminists because he is a male. He offends obesity groups because he is fat, and he offends senior citizen groups because he is old. He offends African-American groups because he is white. So, if we come up, with a young, thin, gender neutral, bi-racial figure, that would most-likely be acceptable. Is it just a coincidence that if you take the letters in Santa and move them around slightly, you get Satan??

Animal rights activists are up in arms over Rudolph. I mean, we should never exploit a helpless reindeer by making him a symbol of commercialism. Especially when he has a condition that causes his nose to stay red constantly.

The pro-abortion crowd is offended by the Baby Jesus, because He was actually born.

Environmental wackos are miffed about Christmas trees. We should never cut down trees for any reason. They don’t like Christmas lights either because of all the extra electricity it takes to run them. And you better never let one of them catch you roasting chestnuts on an open fire. All that smoke pollutes the atmosphere. Oh, and don’t forget those gas guzzling, evil SUV’s that some of us drive to visit our families over the holiday season. That really hacks them off.

Frosty the snowman also offends the feminists. Why couldn’t it be Frosty the snow person? Or Frosty the snow woman?

Elves are offensive to those in our society who are, shall we say, vertically challenged.

The phrase “don we now our gay apparel” in a famous Christmas carol offends the gay rights crowd because they say it pokes fun at them.

Now, this little exercise was fun, but in all seriousness, these things could very easily happen unless we get a handle on the scourge of political correctness. Even the name Christmas is offensive to some because of the obvious reference to Christ. Some even try to totally eliminate all mention of Christ from the holiday, so they replace it with an “X”. I used to get very angry about the use of “X” in place of Christ. But, I had a change of heart a few years ago when I realized that the letter “X” in the Greek alphabet is the letter that represents Christ. So, I changed my attitude and decided that whenever I see “Xmas” I still see Christ since “X” represents Christ. I choose to see Christ in Christmas no matter what the Godless and the liberal left try to do.

I think it’s time that we take back our holiday, and even our nation. They have been corrupted by the Godless and the politically correct in our society and government for far too long. We can stand against the diseases of liberalism and political correctness. There is a cure for them, but it will take the efforts of all Christians to overcome them. I’m willing to do my part and take a stand. Are you??

Three fifth graders, two boys and one girl, were sent to the principal's office for punishment. While waiting for the principal, the kids were made to sit on a bench just outside the office door. As they sat and waited, a group of kids, and a couple of teachers, walked by.

One of the teachers asked the girl what she had done to get sent to the office. She replied "I said the 's' word." The group just shook their heads. Then the teacher asked the first boy the same question. He said "I said the 'f' word." Again, the group just shook their heads.

Finally someone asked the second boy what he had done. He said "I used the 'c' word." "The 'c' word??" asked the teacher. "Yes", said the boy, "I said Christmas". The eyes of all of those in the group widened with disgust and they gasped in horror that the boy would actually dare utter such an offensive word at school. "You should be ashamed of yourself!" exclaimed one of the other kids.

Now, this is not a true story, however it easily could be given society's fascination with political correctness. Unless we wake up and realize that the laws and rights that are enumerated in the Constitution apply to everyone, including Christians.

Let's work and do whatever it takes to keep Christmas a part of our societal lexicon. Let's not allow the political correctness crowd to continue to make it an offensive word and try to have it eliminated. Let's protect and stand up for our rights as Christians to call this special holiday by it's right and proper name.

Newt & illegal immigration

GOP presidential candidate and frontrunner in some polls, Newt Gingrich has weighed in on illegal immigration, said he is prepared to "take the heat" for his stance. Well, I am going to give him some with this post.

While Newt's stance on illegal immigration does not in anyway involve granting citizenship to those who have been here illegally for 25 years or more, or amnesty, it does essentially give them a free pass for their criminal activity, or basically a lighter version of amnesty. His approach, which he calls "humane," rewards them for their wrong doing and that in and of itself is wrong.

Would we soft peddle other crimes that had been going on for 25 years and and just ignore them like Newt wants us to do with long time illegals? Somehow I doubt it. Coming here illegally, and so is staying here illegally. I would argue that staying here for a couple of decades or more illegally is a worse crime than the initial act of coming here. It's kind of like the one time drug pusher, and opposed to the career drug dealer. Both are wrong, but to make a career out of it is far worse.

It is both a financial and logistical nightmare to try and deport 11 million people all at once. I totally get that. No one, at least that I know of is talking about such a mass, wholesale deportation. A few at at a time, over time, gets the job done. It is not a matter of being "humane" or not, it is a matter of the importance of the rule of law and enforcing our laws.

I might even be willing to at least consider a non-deportation approach, as long as there is some sort of penalty or punishment for their crime. A fine, jail time, a combination of both, all of these are certainly viable options. Let's take an illegal immigrant who has been here for 25 years. Fine him $1000 per year that he has been here illegally, and stipulate that he has a specified amount of time to begin the legalization process. Further stipulate that once becoming legal, he must become a contributor to our tax base by working a real job in which taxes are taken from his wages, as opposed to under the table pay, 90% of which goes right back to his homeland. If he complies, with all of these options, then let him stay. Failure to comply with any one of them, automatic and instant deportation.

I am getting tired also of the mantra that says, "we can't break up families just to enforce the law." Really? Using that flawed bit of logic, one could also say that we can't arrest drug dealers, rapists, thieves, murderers, or any other criminals because, "we can't break up families just to enforce the law." The truth is, the criminal should have considered the possible negative impact on his or her family before choosing to engage in criminal activity. It is not the law's fault if a family is broken up because a family member does something illegal. This applies to illegal immigrants and their families as well. In fact, in may cases involving illegal immigrants, the entire family is here illegally, so they can all be sent home without breaking up the family.

This really is the only issue up to now that I have with Newt, but it a big enough one to keep me from wholeheartedly backing him at this point. We have other candidates that are stronger on illegal immigration than he is. If it comes down to it, I may just have to write one of them in. Or maybe even a non-candidate. I wonder what Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo are up to these days?

P.S. It has just been brought to my attention that Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County Arizona, has endorsed Rick Perry for the GOP nominee. This is a game changer for Perry, in a good way. Sheriff Joe is widely regarded as America's toughest sheriff because of his stance on illegal immigration and his refusal to coddle or baby his prisoners. This endorsement will do nothing but help Perry.

Not their finest hour.

I used to think the McKinney Texas police department was a top drawer operation. The events that have unfolded over the last couple of days though paint a dramatically different picture. Heads need to roll over this fiasco (see link below).

It took police 8 months to act on sexual assault complaint.

8 months!?! are you freaking kidding me? The incident was first reported in February, then again in July. It finally took one of the people who made the initial report going to the media to get the police to do something. Now, there is talk that there may have been a third assault that took place after the initial February report. If that turns out to be true, then the McKinney officials who did nothing about it are just as guilty of that sexual assault as the perp.

This is an outrage of the highest order. The very people we trust to protect and to serve apparently cannot be trusted to do either. Now, I am not indicting every single officer on the force here, don't get me wrong. I am sure there are some officers at MPD who are fine, upstanding people. I am indicting the ones who dropped the ball. The officers who didn't think a sexual assault of a minor was worth pursuing, and the supervisors who backed these officers up. They need to be fired, not suspended, fired, and have their certifications yanked.

These are not good times for the McKinney Police Department or for the City of McKinney. Hopefully they will figure out how this happened and keep it from happening again. No amount of "I'm sorry" will take away or undo what was done to these young girls. And knowing the people they were taught to respect and trust for their safety are not worthy of their respect, well, that damage may never be undone.

Let the lynching begin!!

This posts title had to have been the rallying cry in the offices of Politico last weekend. Since last weekend when they broke the "bombshell" that Herman Cain may have sexually harassed a former co-worker when he was with the National Restaurant Association back in the 90's.

Stooping to new journalistic lows, Politico not only used anonymous and unverified sources, but also anonymous and unverified accusers. Since their initial report, there have been 90 of them since last Sunday, a guy claiming to be a lawyer representing the alleged accuser has said that the alleged accuser has declined to go public with the alleged allegations against Cain, but also said, "where there is smoke, there is usually fire." Sounds to me like someone has an agenda. I did not mention the lawyer's name because I have no interest or desire to extend his 15 minutes of fame that he seems so eager to have.

As I previously mentioned, there have been 90 articles written in Politico alone on this alleged scandal since last Sunday night. Clearly the high tech lynching of a Conservative black presidential candidate is not what this is about. There's no agenda here. None whatsoever. If you're dumb enough to believe that then I would love to sell you some Solyndra stock.

Much to the chagrin of the people at Politico, who clearly wouldn't know journalistic integrity if it grabbed them by the crotch, their lynching has backfired. Cain is still at or near the top in the polls. In fact, their attempts at this lynching of Cain seems to have increased both his popularity and his fundraising.

If something like this or worse came out about Obama, not only would Politico not have run 90 stories about it in under a week, but they most likely would have buried it altogether. The good news is, their attempted lynching of Herman Cain has resulted in their own lynching and that is nothing but a good thing.

Judge's discipline of daughter over the top.

A disturbing video has surfaced of a Texas judge both verbally and physically abusing his 16 year-old daughter. The video sparked a lively debate on the topic of corporal punishment on my Facebook page yesterday. The plan is to use this post to tie a bow around the whole issue.

Let me say first off that I did not, nor do I have plans to post a link to the video on this post. The reason for that is mostly for the audio. The judge uses the "f" word pretty freely in the video and I do not approve of or condone the use of that type of language. The "f" word, the "gd" word, and the "n" word have no place in our society or on this blog and their usage is not allowed here.

The judge was clearly enraged when this beating occurred. Any responsible parent knows you never discipline a child when you are angry or enraged. Anyone can slip up, or have a bad day, but this was clearly way more than that. This was indicative of a man with serious problems. The daughter is not completely blameless either, but her culpability is no where near his.

First off, his language alone should be enough to call his qualifications as a judge into question. It takes a certain amount of education to become a judge. People who are truly smart and have a wide and deep vocabulary, will not use the language he used and directed at his daughter. His free and frequent use of the "f" word in the video demonstrate two things; a clearly deficient and insufficient vocabulary, and his comfort whit its use shows that this was not just a one time thing. No one is truly educated, truly professional, or a truly good and decent person will use that type of language, and especially not directed at his or her own child.

I actually have little or no problem with parents using a belt, a paddle, or perhaps maybe a wooden spoon as a means of delivering discipline to their children. But any punishment of that nature should be limited to buttocks ONLY. A belt to the face or any other body part, a hand or fist to the face or the stomach, shoving someone to the ground, etc. are all abuse. Period, paragraph, end of story. I will make one caveat, and that is this, a parent should not be held responsible if the child moves or rolls around in an act of defiance and causes the lick to be delivered somewhere else.

I know some of you out there, who I refer to quite properly as the "anti-spanking Nazis" will look at this video as ammunition in your battle to have all spanking criminalized and all spanking parents given life sentences for what you call abusing their kids. You despicable people use sinister terms like "strike," or "hit" instead of "spank," or "discipline" in an attempt to create this false notion that spanking a child is somehow wrong or criminal. Clearly, you were never spanked as a child. If so, you would not behave so badly.

I am 110% against child abuse in any and every form or fashion. I am also 110% against the complete and utter suspension of intelligence and bastardization of the language that has to occur for someone to equate spanking with child abuse. To not discipline, and even spank when necessary, is in fact a type of child abuse. I don't care what society, the government, the anti-spanking Nazi community, or anyone else has to say about it. I do care very much what the Bible and what common sense have to say about it though.

Now let me be clear, there are parents who, after assessing and evaluating the situation with their child or children, their family situation and dynamic, have decided that spanking doesn't work or is ineffective in their home and have chose other means of discipline. They do what works best for them and do not lord it over other parents. If this is you, then you are NOT one of the anti-spanking Nazis I have been referring to and I applaud your creativity.

The anti-spanking Nazis are the ones who have made the same decision as you have made, but then decided that it somehow give them some sort of moral superiority and the right to cram their choice down the throats of other parents by calling them abusers and trying to get spanking criminalized.

Despite the claims of the anti-spanking Nazis and their sympathizers, not every child who is or who ever has been spanked, grows up to be violent or a child abuser. In fact, a strong case can be made that not using corporal punishment on kids has led to the increase in violent crime by juveniles. Violence in schools went up when paddling was banned. Teachers were still allowed to paddle when I was growing up. No one took guns or knives to school. You never heard of a student shooting up his class or sniping kids on the playground. It simply did not happen. Why? Kids behaved better because they knew if they didn't they would end up crying and not being able to sit down for a little while. Corporal punishment works.

Going back to the video, I have a problem with the use of a belt on a 16 year-old. Clearly this was not done enough when she was younger and she had some serious behavioral issues. That ship has sailed, that horse is already out of the barn, and using a belt to try to correct prior years of poor parenting and to "beat her into submission" was way out of line.

Once a child is older, you can send a much clearer message to them that they have done wrong by taking away their car keys, their Internet access, video games, cell phone, any or all of the above. I guarantee you most teenagers will beg to be spanked rather than have these things taken away from them.

In summation; the language used by the judge was indisputably inappropriate and shows a clear and undeniable lack of both intelligence and a moral compass. In addition, the physical discipline was both clearly and obviously excessive and age inappropriate. This video clearly and undeniably shows a serious problem not with the concept or idea of corporal punishment, but rather with its abuse and misuse in this case. The judge displayed a clear lack of judgment and parenting skills.

Halloween is one of the most popular times of the year for many people. They dress up in all manner of costumes and go around and hit people up for free candy. Some use it as an occasion to get into mischief such as egging cars or toilet papering houses. Is this all just a bunch of harmless fun, or is there something more sinister and evil behind it? To properly answer this, let's first take a look at the factual, historical origin(s) of Halloween. What follows is a piece called “Halloween Questions and Answers” by Kerby Anderson, along with some information from my own research into Halloween and its origins. My comments are in blue, everything else is Kerby Anderson.

Most people see Halloween as nothing more than a harmless festival that allows kids to collect candy. Yet Halloween is much more than a harmless harvest festival. Its origins are deeply rooted in the occult, and various practitioners of the black arts identify Halloween as a significant event in the pagan calendar. In our increasingly pagan society, Halloween has become a lure, a tool for conditioning American children into unwittingly accepting the basic elements of Satanic worship. Once stripped of the inhibitions of basic evil, many go much farther. Yet the first naive steps are taken in childhood innocence. Parents need to know the risks, and the potential results of such lures as Halloween. The following questions and answers should help you be more aware of the occultic nature of this dark holiday.

What is Halloween?

The date, Oct.31, has long been known as "The Festival of the Dead". The Celtic tribes and their priests, the Druids, celebrated this day as a marker for the change from life to death. Today, the modern celebration of Halloween is performed usually by adherents of witchcraft who use the day (and especially the night) for their rituals.

Witches celebrate Halloween as "The Feast of Samhain" , the first feast of the witchcraft year. Being a festival of the dead, Halloween is a time when witches attempt to communicate with the dead through various forms of divination (note God's command against divination in Deuteronomy 18).

Witches believe that this day marks the time when the Mother Goddess (also known as Mother Nature, Goddess of the Earth) returns to the underworld to sleep under a blanket of snow. In her place comes another god, the Horned God, to begin his reign of death. Witches believe this is a time when the life of Summer is replaced by the death of Winter. Halloween is a high feast day to celebrate the end of Summer and the coming of Winter.

In later centuries, the Catholic church attempted to redeem this pagan holiday and designated it as "All Hallows (Saints) Eve". Protestant churches during the Reformation chose not to celebrate this day seeing it as an attempt to Christianize a pagan holiday. Today, many are unaware of the occultic origins of this holiday or the Satanic consequences to which it can lead. they believe it is merely another harmless event on the school calendar.

Why do kids dress up on Halloween?

During most of the 20th century, children in America have been dressing up on Halloween so they can go out and "trick or treat". This tradition has been self-perpetuating for decades, but if we go back to the origins of Halloween, we again see the occult connection.

Occultists who revered Halloween as a pagan holy day saw this as a time of transition between life and death. They beleived that during this transition, the two worlds were momentarily in contact with one another. The veil between these two worlds (the world of the living and the world of the dead) was very thin, and so many believed they would come in contact with the spirit world.

Some occult practitioners practiced divination and believed you could learn the secrets of life and wisdom from lying on a grave and listening to the messages from the long-departed. Others taught that spirits and ghosts would leave the grave on this night and seek out warmth in their previous homes. Villagers fearful of the possibility of being visited by the ghosts of past occupants would dress up in costumes to scare the spirits away. the would also leave food and other treats at their door to appease the spirits so they would not destroy their homes or crops but instead move on down the road.

What is the significance of the Jack-O-Lantern?

Another technique used to scare away the spirits was to carve a scary face into a pumpkin (often known as a Wil-O-Wisp). This horrible visage would hopefully move the spirit on to another home or village and spare that home from any destruction.

Sometimes the villagers would light a candle and place it within the pumpkin and use it as a lantern (hence the name Jack-O-Lantern). They would walk from the local grave yard to their homes in an effort to scare off the evil spirits that might be walking down the road after leaving the grave. Many homeowners would leave the Jack-O-Lanterns outside their homes in order to ward off any spirits that might come to their homes.

How does Halloween fit in with other witchcraft festivals?

Within witchcraft there are four pagan festivals celebrated throughout the year. The first festival on the witchcraft calendar is Halloween (October 31). This is the celebration of life and death. It is also known as Hallowmas. Many rituals, some of which include animal and even human sacrifices, take place at this time.

Second is Candlemas (February 2) which honors the "God of Death". This festival is designated to give him thanks for keeping them from sickness, and wishes him well as he journeys back to the underworld. The third festival is Beltane on May Eve (April 30). This celebration welcomes new life and involves fertility rituals. A final festival is Lammas (August 1) which is a festival of the harvest. Witches give thanks to the "Goddess of the Earth" for making their crops grow.

What is the significance of bobbing for apples?

During some witchcraft feasts (Hallowmas, Beltane, and Lammas), fertility rituals are practiced. In some witch covens (with both male and female members), this may involve the sexual act as a rite of fertility. In most other covens though, the closing ritual includes eating an apple.

Notice the contrast. Eating the forbidden fruit (the apple) in Genesis 3 brought sin and death into the world. In witchcraft though, eating an apple is symbolic of bringing life. In essence, bobbing for apples brings together two pagan traditions; divination and the fertility ritual.

It is crucial tio realize that in self-styled Satanic cults, similar rituals are incorproated into routine ceremonies, building a bridge between the innocent and profane.

How should Christians respond to Halloween?

The pagan origins of Halloween should be sufficient to cause Christian parents to question the wisdom of allowing their children to participate in a witchcraft festival. Given this information, parents really only have one choice: fight the celebration of Halloween, and provide alternatives.

At a time when schools are removing all religious significance from Christmas (now often called Winter Break) and Easter (called Spring Break), it is ironic that most public schools still celebrate Halloween. Responsible parents should ask school administrators to restrict Halloween celebrations. Pictures of witches, haunted houses, and other occultic images are a promotion of pagan religious practices.

Many churches have begun creative alternatives. Church youth groups hold bowling or skating parties. Some groups spend the night going out and witnessing to those in the streets. Still other churches hold Fall Fun Festivals and have children come to the church dressed in biblical costumes. Such programs keep children safe and focus their attention on the Bible rather than on a pagan, occultic ritual.

The topic of Halloween sparks a lively debate/discussion around this time each year. So much is said by so many from so many different perspectives, that I thought some clarity was needed on the subject. Let me just say that I am not one of those who think that Christians should spend Halloween with the shades drawn while cowering in a corner somewhere. But we should not observe it in the way that most people do since it is after all a pagan, satanic holiday. Despite popular belief, it is not a cute, fun, harmless game for kids to participate in.

Alternative events for Halloween are a good idea as far as I can see. I think that if you are going to tell kids that they shouldn't participate in Halloween in the traditional ways, then you should provide them with something else to do. Church sponsored fall festivals, concerts, and "Hell House" type things are great Halloween alternatives. Churches have no business having haunted houses, ghosts, witches, jack-o-lanterns, and other traditional trappings. Light has no fellowship with darkness, and churches should have no fellowship with the traditions of a satanic holiday.

Like it or not, believe it or not, there are occultic and satanic practices at the very origin and heart of Halloween. Ancient societies began disguising themselves (dressing up) in hopes that they might ward off evil spirits. Others would offer gifts (treats) to the spirits to try to appease them. Others carved jack-o-lanterns hoping to frighten the spirits away. Today, as in years past, Oct. 31 is known to Satanists as Hallowmas, the most important unholy day on the satanic calendar. Also called Samhain, Halloween, and All Hallows Eve, it is the time when the powers of the Underworld (Hell) are felt to be growing, it's gates are open and all the evil forces are let loose. Traditionally, it is The Feast of the Dead, where one communes and rejoices with the souls of the departed who have not yet reincarnated.

I do not believe for one second that every person who celebrates Halloween is a Satanist, or intends on doing anything satanic. Nor do I believe that every drunk driver intends to have an accident and hurt or kill innocent people. Nor do I believe that every child who picks up and plays with a loaded gun intends to hurt or kill anyone, but the potential is there none the less. There is also a potential for harm in the practice of Halloween traditions. There are demonic forces at work in the world at all times. Their presence is much stronger on Halloween. Christians should not do anything that brings them into close contact with the forces of darkness. Non-Christians should really steer clear of all Halloween observances, since they can be actually possessed by demon spirits. I would advise everyone to stay away from traditional Halloween observances.

In closing, I would like to challenge everyone to steer clear of all of the traditions of Halloween. If you have to do something on Oct. 31, then find a church sponsored alternative event and go to it. Why would anyone who claims to be a Christian want to participate in an event such as Halloween, that clearly has it's origin in the occult? You cannot serve two masters. You cannot have one foot in God's kingdom, and the other in Satan's. You have to choose one or the other. The question is which one will you choose?

Cain struck the state as a category 5 candidate when he won the Florida straw poll, getting more votes than perceived frontrunners Perry & Romney. Recent polls now show Cain in first, with Perry second, and Romney third. This category 5 storm of common sense solutions wreaked havoc on the state, and did serious damage to the Democrats. The days and weeks ahead should be very interesting.

GOP front-runner Rick Perry has some serious problems he may not be able to overcome with the voters. The sad and scary thing is, these problems may gain him brownie points with the establishment RINO Repubicans. That's why we the people need to wake up and rise up and not allow the Repubican party to shove a pseudo-Conservative down our throats. Rick Perry falls into that category.

There has been much brought up in the recent debates and continued on in the media about his Gardasil mandate. As a lifelong Texan and the father of a daughter who would have been affected by the mandate, I am all too aware of the uproar over that issue. Perry has tried to do a little damage control on the issue saying he realizes now that it was a mistake. Well, not so fast.

In Thursday's debate when hammered on the subject by Michelle Bachmann, Perry gave an answer that was both very telling, and very problematic. He said, "What part of opt out did parents not understand?" In other words, the parents of girls 12 and older in Texas are too stupid to understand a provision of the mandate. Doesn't sound a lot like someone who thinks he made a mistake. Sounds more like someone getting defensive when his pet project comes under scrutiny.

The response was problematic not just because of Perry's attitude but also because of its substance, or lack thereof. There never should have been a mandate in the first place, with or without an opt out. He should have said, "The state is going to offer Gardasil shots to girls 12 and up, we strongly encourage and recommend them having the shot...etc." Give parents the final say. Have an opt in rather than an opt out. That leads me to ask Gov. Perry the following question. Gov. Perry, what part of parental rights and authority DO YOU not understand and/or respect?

Perry's other problem has to do with giving in-state tuition discounts to children of illegal immigrants. Not a good practice as it rewards law-breaking. The children are innocent, true, but most kids don't pay their own way through school anyway, their parents do. In these cases, it is the law-breaking parents are who getting the discount, while law-abiding Texans can't afford to send their kids to college. On what planet is this even remotely fair or right? Apparently on the planet Rick Perry lives on.

When this was brought up in the debate he said people who oppose this "have no heart." Not true. We have a heart, we just have not allowed our hearts to eat our brains like the governor seems to have. To support this practice and allow it to continue, one could argue, you would have to have no brain.

Completing the trifecta is what we Texans have to come to know as the Trans Texas Corridor Project. In this colossal dsiplay of eminent domain on steroids, the state, under Perry's order, sought to seize large quantities of land from Texas land owners to build a super highway to link Mexico and Texas with the rest of the US in support of NAFTA.

To sum it all up, in his decade plus of governance, this former Democrat has sought to usurp parental authority, give free college education to law-breakers, and confiscate large swaths of land for what was ultimately an ill-fated project. We have to ask ourselves, is this how he would govern the nation as well if he became president? Would he be even more wheels off? America won't survive another wheels off, loose cannon president. We want and need a Conservative to beat Obama. Then let's see that a REAL, TRUE Conservative is our nominee. Rick Perry is not that guy.

Many people, especially those on the left and blacks, have this fascination with calling those of us who consider ourselves Conservatives or have Tea-Party passion, racists. In a mind-blowing display of their own overt racism, a couple of black members of Congress and the Congressional Black Caucus have made their racism, vitriol, and hatred of non-blacks and non-liberals abundantly clear.

Then enters Congressman Andre Collins from Indiana's 7th District. Just when you think Maxine Waters had committed the ultimate offense, Collins takes it light years further. In a speech to the Congressional Black Caucus, Collins said that Conservatives view blacks as "second class citizens," and that they would love "to see us all hanging from trees." The depth of vitriol and hatred it takes to make such a statement is almost unfathomable.

They accuse us of hate and bigotry? Seems to me a bit like the pot calling kettle black. These people HATE Conservatives and whites. Are there still the occasional white people who do still hate blacks? Of course there are. They are among the lowest common denominator in our society. And even lower on that scale are the the white supremacist groups. They are not representative though of ALL whites and of ALL Conservatives. They are a fringe element and they are despicable and reprehensible. Racism is wrong. Whether it is white on black, or black on white.

So to Congresswoman Waters, who wants us to "go straight to Hell" I would say, after you ma'am. Be sure and save us a place, but don't be too surprised if we go elsewhere. And to the despicable Congressman Collins, Sir, NO Conservative or Tea-Party person I know whats to see ANY blacks "hanging from a tree." But, if any of us ever did get to thinking that, it might not be a bad idea if we started with you and Congresswoman Waters.
